The North Coast

The North Coast

The North Coast is a famous coastal scenic area in northern Taiwan. The special natural land form along the coastal road, coupled with the change of tides, makes this a famous spot for watching tides and waves. After the war, amateur photography clubs prevailed in Taiwan, and the North Coast became a favorite location for photographers. Outdoor shooting often took place in Yehliu, where its the special terrain was a favorite theme of photographic lenses.

In this photo, a woman sits at the border between rocks and the sea, yet she is not the main subject of the work but serves to highlight the boundary. In addition, Lee deliberately zoomed out the lens so that the proportions of people appear so small in nature, which strengthens the sense of sublime in nature. With the treatment of black-and-white, the turbulent waves of the sea and the calmness of the rocks marks the rich variety of the structure.
