Sunset by the Sea -1

Sunset by the Sea -1

After long-term hard work and unremitting tryout, Lin’s breakthrough of color photo processing technique and investment in advanced photographic equipment in 1949 made him even more reputed in the local industry.

The representation of daylight was a challenge for Lin Chuan-tsu to master the effects of color photos, but was also an important composition element and a powerful strategy for creating dramatic effects. Water surface and reflection are also one of Lin Chuan-tsu’s favorite creative subjects. From framing, imaging to processing, the arrangements of color tone, light and composition are all the result of long-term devoted experiments.

In Sunset by the Sea -1, the sun gradually approaches the distant sea level. The sunset is reflected in the foreground, making the entity and the reflection rich and balanced. The whole work presents an impressively strong and saturated orange-red hue. The shaded silhouette resembling ink paintings sets off the rocky shore and the water surface, delivering a more concise and powerful image. In the afterglow of the sunset, the waves on the water gleamed with refined brilliance. The silhouette-like effect created by the backlight makes the figure taking pictures on the left side of the foreground more present and mysterious.
